Why are employee investigations before termination so important? Remember former personnel can begin a smear campaign against you and the business and this will only add to your current problems. Once you decide this is a low-risk dismissal, you lay off immediately and give your guideline discontinuance package to the worker. This leaves him feeling depressed, humiliated and worthless. Make sure you handle the final dismissal meeting in a quick and straightforward manner. Note: If you have a high-risk layoff, follow the meeting method in the next chapter. Make sure it does not contain any language that puts the company at legal risk. The employee should do this before you take any actions toward dimissing the disabled employee. o A jury of 12 who may be sympathetic to the worker and who don't know you.
